CAMPER AGES: Children entering 1st-8th grades. We also have a Counselor-In-Training program for young leaders entering 9th and 10th grades.
TYPE OF CAMP: Day Camp. M-F 8:30am-4:30pm. Overnights for campers starting in 3rd grade, frequency of overnights depends on their age.

SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: Camp Butwin welcomes, supports and includes children and teens with disabilities in all of our programs. CAMP LOCATION: Camp Butwin is located on Lake O'Brien on 88 wooded acres and surrounded by Lebanon Hills County Park in Eagan, Minnesota.
CAMP FACILITIES:
Camp Butwin has a Heated pool:
Our large-capacity pool features Aqua Walls, slides and splash zones! A great place to cool off, learn swim skills and hang out with friends.
Camp Butwin has a 10,000-square-foot lodge facility: When the weather is not cooperating, our campers are safe and comfortable in our air-conditioned lodge.
Camp Butwin has horseback riding:
One of the only camp horseback riding programs in the Twin Cities! Campers increase confidence, self-esteem and love for nature with every ride.
Lake O’Brien:
Swim, canoe, kayak and paddleboat in the lake – there’s no better way to enjoy the great outdoors!
Covered Villages:
Each camp group has a home base – a covered shelter that’s the place for lunch, group activities and community-building.
Challenge and ropes course:
Feel like the king or queen of the mountain when you climb our 45-foot tower, glide along our 100-foot zip line or explore our low level challenge course.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: At Camp Butwin, children play in a safe, stimulating setting and use a heated outdoor swimming pool, a lake with a boating area and a sandy beach, a ropes course and climbing tower, horses and riding trails, softball and soccer fields, an archery range, and areas for crafts, nature, and theater.
Campers are entering 1st-8th grades. As children get older, we introduce extended nights, over-nights and week-long off-site trips. We have an exciting Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program for young leaders who want to learn valuable leadership skills, entering 9th-10th grades. We also offer specialty camps for theater, sports and horses for 3rd-6th graders.
Along with traditional Butwin where campers explore all areas of camp, this year we are offering specialty camps for those campers who want to spend more time in specific areas of camp.

For children entering 3rd- 6th grades
Butwin in the Spot Light –
A six-week theater experience working with director Nancy Michael to stage the show Wonderland.
Details: June 30-August 8th.
Butwin Sports Sampler –
For the camper who loves a variety of sports, and wants a more active day at Butwin
Details: June 16th-June 27th
Butwin All Stars –
Focus on specific sports, like basketball and soccer, with skilled coaches and professionals
Details: Two sessions, June 30th- July 18th and/or July 21st-August 8th.
Butwin Buckaroos – Horse-loving campers will fill their Butwin mornings with horse care and longer trail rides to enhance their riding skills.
Details: Five options available to fit into your busy summer schedule! Mix and match sessions, or attend all eight weeks!

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Teens: make the most of your summer months as a Counselor in Training (CIT) at Camp Butwin! If you’re entering 9th or 10th grade, then this program is for YOU! Gain valuable leadership and employment skills, earn money and have a lot of fun all summer long.
As a CIT, you’ll be a role model for younger campers, develop your skills as a counselor, bond with other teens and make new friends. CITs are mentored by senior Camp Butwin staff and have field trips, evening activities and overnights throughout the summer.
CITs learn:
• How to plan and lead camp activities
• The basics of child development
• Basic safety and First Aid
• Conflict resolution
• Positive techniques to deal with behavior and disciplinary issues
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial assistance is available for families who find the full cost of membership and/or camp difficult to manage. To arrange for a confidential interview, please check the fee adjustment box on your online registration form and you will be contacted for an appointment. All applicants must provide proof of income (2013 taxes, W-2 forms) at the time of the appointment to be considered for camp scholarships. Request for fee adjustments are due by April 15 and are available for JCC members only.
