Having worked extensively with high school students in the past, our staff members genuinely look forward to their summers with ACA. We have a 10:1 student to staff ratio on our domestic programs and 8:1 student to staff ratio on our abroad programs. Safety and supervision is our number one priority. We are hiring Camp Counselors for this upcoming summer at our various locations. You must be at least 21 years of age and a college graduate. Camping as a family is a great way to connect and instead of staying in a tent Camp E.L.K. brings you the luxury of beds, showers, prepared meals, and staff led activities. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With 30 years experience supporting both A-List and up and coming actors to fulfill their maximum potential, film director and international acting coach Michelle Danner has distilled the best ideas and practices of the major acting techniques, utilizing the strengths of each. But every actor is unique, so you will learn to form a toolbox of your own, your very own “Golden Box”. Through studying Michelle Danner’s acting technique you will accumulate a comprehensive set of “acting tools” to use when approaching a role or a scene, whether it be for film, television, or theater.

Michelle Danner is an international film director & acting coach. Her student list include James Franco, Seth MacFarlane, Salma Hayek, Henry Cavill, Zooey Deschanel, Gerard Butler, Chris Rock, Chris Martin, Penelope Cruz, Michael Pena, Michelle Rodriguez, Kate Del Castillo and many others.

Our Approach
Nature Awareness:
Through focusing on nature awareness we encourage our students to experience what is happening around them, awakening curiosity and inspiration. When students are empowered to root in processes like making fire, foraging wild foods, making rope, and learning bird songs; they begin to feel capable of relaxing and deepening in the wilderness. We believe that learning skills of how to source our human lives from the abundant life around us grows respect; respect for the plants that heal our wounds, the sticks that give us warmth, and the creek that cools us. We develop a deepening gratitude to the elements that offer us life.

Regenerative Presence:
We use a variety of tools to inspire a regenerative presence on the planet. At Earth Path Education, we believe that the concept of regeneration is the key to a harmonious future here on Earth. We believe that as humans we can do more than not harm, we can actually feed all of creation with our beauty, our rituals, our songs, and our deep listening.

Village Building:
We hold necessary the role of the village in our Wilderness Rites of Passage ceremonies. It is the village that sends the initaites into their journeys, and the village that catches the initaites and witnesses the transformations. The rites of passage is also a key part to the health of the village, pumping all members with health, inspirations and vitality, bringing to the village the vision seeds that are to sprout us into a more harmonious way of relating.

Ceremonial Arts:
At Earth Path Education we are committed to the beauty way. We make earth offerings, and leave equsitie altars in the forest. We sings and dance, at each spring, we feed the fire with our stories and we compost our grief and our burdens, so that life can grow corn with it to feed the people. We pray for our lives, we pray for the earth. Our dreams bring us messages, and as we tune into our rhythms, and synch up with the rythms of the land. The earth starts to dream up through us, clarifying our purpose, calling us forward, and illuminating our gifts. Our ceremonies are an art of listening, to that wisdom which has been held in the earth and is just waiting to be danced up through us.

Permaculture:
Permaculture creates systems that provide for Human needs and the Earth’ s needs through mutually beneficial relationships. The health of our human community is linked to our local bioregion, which in turn is linked to the wellbeing of all ecosystems. We instill the ethics of Elemental Linking and Holistic Thinking. As every element becomes an integral part of the whole system, the whole community becomes more dynamic, harmonious, and energy efficient. These enhanced relationships reduce maintenance and stress, while increasing yields and happiness. These permaculture principles apply to our ecological relationship and our social relationships.

Play:
We instill the idea that work and play can be one in the same. We inspire youth and adults to follow the things that they are truly passionate about. We help guide each other to feel confident in achieving our dreams, and manifesting a life that we are happy to be living each day. We believe that the most harmonious accomplishments come from a people who love what they were doing, feeling that their calling, is a place where ones passion is meeting the thrist of the world and bringing sweet water to the driest of places. We learn about who we are and how we want to show up for our communities, this earth and our lives.

We learn about how to care for our amazing bodies, and discuss how to maintain a positive body-image. We learn about the traditional Moon Lodge, a sacred space established to honor a woman’s moontime. Through implementing these ceremonial practices, we learn how we can create space to deeply explore the blessings of being a woman.

We experience ourselves through ceremony and through play! We learn ancestral crafts, games, stories, and songs as we root into our bio-region! As we camp and hike our amazing landscapes, we explore the ways in which we can sustain ourselves through our understanding of the natural world. We learn a variety of earth skills including how to make fire, wild edibles, permaculture, plant medicines, and much more.

We call upon elders in our community to share their wisdom; we bring in strong role models to teach a variety of skills, crafts, and classes. Together we form a web that nourishes the fertile soil that feeds our growth and expansion throughout life. This quest is a powerful and fun-filled experience for all, helping to create the beautiful, heart-centered women of our future!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our Story Ballet Camp is designed for students ages 3 to 5 and ages 6 to 8 to increase the love and appreciation of the art of dance while improving coordination, physical fitness, performance ability, self-esteem and discipline. BACKSTAGE is an exciting counselor-in-training program for teenagers. Each counselor will select a specific focus, such as choreography, stage and set design, music, costuming, stage management or direction. Counselors will be actively engaged in one or more of our productions and gain valuable vocational training in their area of focus.

Stage Door Conservatory nurtures the social, emotional and intellectual development of children using by the performing arts as a vehicle of learning. CAMP LIFE Many children regard Stage Door Conservatory a home away from home because we focus on creating a sense of community for everyone who join us. During our first week together, as in all subsequently weeks, we will focus on developing a strong sense of esprit d-corps among our campers ... encouraging the creation of new bonds between the children who are becoming newly acquainted as members of our ensemble, as well as the renewal of old bond among children who have spent prior summers together as members of our camp. Both ON BROADWAY and TEENS ON STAGE include many alumni who participate in our program year after year. AN ENSEMBLE and CONSERVATORY PHILOSOPHY

Both ON BROADWAY and TEENS ON STAGE are ensemble-based programs. During our first weeks together, we will encourage our young actors to collaborate in the creative process together and to appreciate and support one another as persons and performers. We will emphasize the unique importance of each child who is a part of our production, whether they are performing in a lead role or as a member of our ensemble. Because we are a conservatory, in addition to rehearsing and performing in a high caliber production, children participate in every aspect of our production, from costuming, to set-design, to props development.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: LVCC MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP was born of a passion for helping children discover confidence and learn life skills in the process of creating Musical Theatre. We know that many valuable life skills can be developed in the process of creating ART, especially when the creation process takes place with collaboration.

LVCCMTW is a place where the individual is nurtured, cared about and supported. We believe in positivity and unique expression. We have a "zero-tolerance" policy on negativity. This camp is a place where loving, encouraging, creativity takes place and character building elements are valued and taught. We believe that we are helping to "BUILD BETTER HUMANS THROUGH MUSICAL THEATRE" by focusing on collaboration, acceptance,creativity, respect, friendship, and individual expression. We build these elements into everything we do.

During each one-week session, 120 Campers are divided, by age, into seven groups: Preschool - High School.
Each group spends the week from 9-3 each day attending sessions in ACTING, DANCE, MUSIC, STAGECRAFT and THEATRE ARTS,creating a unique, original Musical Theatre Production for performance at the Friday Night Showcase.

Each age group is joined by trained, experienced, caring counselors who accompany them throughout their day. We believe in personal attention to each camper, therefore we keep our camper to counselor ratio very small. In our preschool 1/2 day program, our ratio is 3 campers to one counselor. This ratio increases only slightly with each age group. Our maximum ratio is in the 9th-10th grade Leadership Training program, where the ratio is only 6:1. We believe that adhering strictly to this ratio allows each camper maximum support for their individual creative expression and gives our staff an opportunity to relate to every camper individually.

Our caring instructors are skilled, educated, and experienced in their craft and have a passion for helping kids discover their skills, talents and self confidence in each of the respective elements of Musical Theatre creation.

Stagecraft: Campers will make (or assist in making) their own sets, props and costumes, using age-level based artistic expression, creative and technical skills.

Dance: Campers will be taught a dance and will learn dance terms and basic dance moves. They will learn or improve their ability to be comfortable with dance and with moving their bodies.

Acting: campers will learn and rehearse their scene for the showcase. As age/ability increases, campers also participate in writing their own lines, some of the scene, or the whole scene.

Music: campers learn the song for their performance. They will focus on basic musical terms and concepts. As age/ability increases, campers participate in solo and small group singing, understanding and performing harmony and lyric writing/music composition skills.

Theatre Arts: Campers gain understanding of the concepts and ideas needed to fully comprehend their scene/character for the performance showcase. As age/ability increases, campers participate in character development, exploration of personal strengths/goals, collaborative creation process.

Preschool/Kinder students attend a 1/2 day camp where some of these classes are combined. All other campers attend full day camp.

9th/10th grade campers also attend child development class and leadership training and function as an instructor assistant for some of the day as part of our Leadership Training Certification Program.

All of our staff are highly trained in positive interaction skills and have a passion for children and for the arts.

CAMP FACILITIES: MODERN FACILITY: Broadway Gymnastic School is a stateof-the-art gymnastics and children’s fitness facility offering all equipment used in the Olympics as well as trampolines, mini tramp, tumble trak, creative obstacle courses and the zip-line (a favorite among our campers). We also have an activity room, lunch room, arts & crafts room, dance studio and free wi-fi.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our spectacular gymnastics and sports camp incorporates exercise and education into a fun-filled day program. Gymnastics is paired with a variety of sports, arts, drama, field trips, and an exciting array of activities captivates all ages until the camper goes home at 12:30 or 3pm. Before and after care is available and can be arranged at registration.

ACTIVITIES/TRIPS: Gymnastics is the foundation of our 2015 fitness day camp activities. Ball sports, swimming, arts and crafts, drama, music and dance round out the curriculum. We are also known for our educational field trips: Kid Concepts, Whale Watching, Sky Zone, Aquarium of the Pacific, California Science Center and Adventureplex.

Dance, music, art and science activities are scheduled throughout the summer. Campers get the chance to try new activities, discover new talents and gain confidence in themselves. Other special themed days include Bring- A-Friend Day, Karaoke, bounce houses, zip-lining, plus Water Days filled with water balloon activities and swimming adventures. At the end of each week BGS will host a Friday Night Traffic Jam Party from 3-3:30pm!

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS: Your child’s day will begin with gymnastics. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The seed of Sessions Songwriting and Music sprung to life in 2007 when its founder, Lauren Bruns, was discussing with a good friend and mother of two that there was a gaping hole in many of the musical programs offered in Los Angeles. CAMP FACILITIES: Shawl-Anderson Dance Center has four studios in a converted Berkeley Craftsman house. The center has been a vibrant part of the Berkeley community for over 50 years, teaching non-competitive dance to all ages and levels.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our Ballet studio is located in downtown Alameda near shopping and restaurants. It is in a beautiful old building with hardwood floors and large windows with lots of natural light.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Ages 4-6yrs: This level is for beginning students as well as those who have already been in a dance program. In addition to a daily dance class, children learn about and watch a different famous classical ballet each week. They explore their own creativity through exercise in movement concepts. Students also learn valuable lessons about anatomy, nutrition, dance history and vocabulary. Every child goes home with their own Ballet Camp Scrapbook they have created each week.

Ages 7-12yrs: This level is similar in structure and content to the camp for 4 - 6 year olds, but is for children whose focus, coordination, reading and writing skills are more developed. This camp includes a daily ballet class, video of a classical ballet, lessons in music, dance history, anatomy, nutrition and ballet vocabulary. Students explore their creativity with exercises in choreography and activities related to the classical ballet they are studying. Plus, students go home with their own Ballet Camp Scrapbook they have created each week.

CAMP FACILITIES: This site offers indoor dormitory sleeping in bunks with mattresses provided. Campers are grouped together by age and supervised by their counseling staff. The beautiful setting also allows for swimming, access to the Russian River, outdoor basketball court, a play area, a cozy main house lodge, a recreation and gaming room, an outdoor campfire circle, cozy places to sit and share, a crafts shack, and a wonderful Redwood chapel.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Saint Francis is a week filled with programs that allow campers to explore and experience outdoor activities and create for themselves a closer connection to God and their communities.

Established in 2001, CSF moved to its new host site in 2014. This Camp Meeker location affords opportunities for activities like crafts, campfire, archery, games, sports, dance, water fun and nature hikes.

We build on themes of understanding and compassion in all of our programs, particularly in chapel, our scarf program, group games and discussions and our creative lessons and themes throughout the week.

Most of our staff are volunteers and attended camp as campers, and they are dedicated to providing a highly spirited, fun, and welcoming environment. We all strive to be good role models of the Christian way of life. We hope that our positive example and loving Christian environment promotes campers to grow spiritually.

The Scarf program, adopted from the YMCA’s ragger program, teaches campers important life skills, by taking on personal challenges and working towards overcoming them successfully. Ultimately, this helps develop lifelong tools a camper needs for personal growth. * Staff members are screened and trained in program, policies, and safety awareness. Our program is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of California and is welcoming and inclusive.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Youth ages 14-15 are welcome to apply as Program Aides, we also accept volunteers for Counselors (and CITs) and Program leaders. Training for the staff will be held in the Bay Area in July 2017.

Volunteers are welcome to apply for counseling and program activity leadership positions. As much of our focus is on outreach to lower-income families, we can only provide a stipend as budget allows. Avodah is a multifaceted, service-based program in which campers play an integral role in camp’s day-to-day operations. Avodahniks develop a strong work ethic and serve as Jewish role models at camp. Beyond daily activities, campers work diligently on a significant camp improvement project and march as a team in both the annual Pride Parade and AIDS Walk in San Francisco.

Our highly-selective and popular CIT program trains our future staff and camp leadership, offering young adults a valuable personal and professional growth opportunity. Leadership workshops and Judaic programs are combined with practical hands-on training with children of all ages.

CAMP FACILITIES: We are located on 220 acres in the Malibu mountains. It is a nice rustic-type camp , with refurbished boys' side cabins as of 2014 and the girls' side on schedule for refurbishment within the next couple of years. We have an outdoor pool, basketball courts, ping pong tables, gaga court, sports field, ropes course (upper and lower elements) hiking trails, indoor dining hall, conference center, an area for outdoor camping and adventures and more. We have an organic garden, and animal center - with 26 horses, goats, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, a cow and more.

TASC : Teen Age Service Camp
(entering 10th -11th grades)

TASC is geared toward developing leadership, through a group-oriented community project implemented by the campers, and through special programs. Throughout the session, TASCers experience pride and fulfillment as they enrich the Camp JCA Shalom campus. In addition, TASCers get to experience the best components of the general camp program along with a special out-of-camp overnight trip. For over 45 years, the TASC program has been one of our most popular teen programs.

TASC : California Kibbutz -
(entering 11th grades)

TASC Kibbutz is a new program created just for entering 11th graders. This program is an immersive three week program designed to be the ultimate Jewish camping and leadership experience. In TASC Kibbutz, we transport ourselves back a hundred years ago to feel what it was like for some of the pioneers who made their way to Israel. The "Kibbutzniks" will have to "create their own world" at camp. They will build their own living area, cook many of their own meals, and even help work the farm at camp! By creating a kibbutz at JCA, the Kibbutzniks will come together as a tightly knit community, grow closer to the land; learn about sustainability and organic farming; and gain knowledge of kibbutz life in Israel- all while having fun at camp! While the Kibbutzniks will spend the majority of time creating their kibbutz, they will still be connected to camp, spending sometime every day with the rest of the camp community, and still participating in many of camps offerings such as horseback riding and the ropes course. At the end of the program, the Kibbutzniks will leave with a sense of accomplishment, a set of friends for life, and a true finale of their last camp experience before becoming a Counselor-In-Training (CIT).

CIT: Counselor-In-Training
(entering grade 12)

These future leaders have a lasting effect on both the spirit and welfare of Camp JCA Shalom. Workshops in Jewish programming, child development and leadership training, along with observation, individual supervision and actual work with younger campers, helps the CIT explore the functioning and philosophy of camp, and develop his/her leadership abilities. This is an enriching and exciting experience as well as an important step towards future staff positions at camp. By the end of the summer, the CITs have the opportunity to become junior counselors during Session 3, and will receive a small stipend. Personal Interview required.

All Teen Leadership Programs:

- Require an additional application and interview prior to acceptance.
- Have a minimum and maximum number of participants.

Jam Camp West provides a great alternative to traditional band and orchestra camps, where youth of ANY skill level can take part in a highly creative and quality artistic experience in a stunning redwood environment. In addition to our educational curriculum, Jam Camp West blends the wonders of the natural world into this inspiring and fun-packed music making experience. Our classroom is the majestic redwood forest, where talented professionals, and carefully chosen counselors and CIT’s serve as role models and mentors.

Campers create a personal schedule from over 25 noncompetitive workshops offered each day. OTHER CAMP INFO: The Project Endeavor Experience takes students and faculty from around the globe and works with each participant to hone their skills and talents. Each participant will be assigned a team and each team will work with a team leader to design a project or perform a routine or create a masterpiece that will be shown to members of that given field at a final banquet. The team that is elected by members of that profession will be honored at the event and will be able to meet with the judges. As a part of the Project Endeavor experience, each team will base their project and the competition on behalf of a local charitable organization. CAMP FACILITIES: Beautiful and recently renovated Black Box Theater. It has a stage and comfortable back stage. All of our props and backgrounds are designed and created by hand. Elevated seating that can fit up to 90 people. There is a ticket booth and a functioning restroom. Different types of lighting: black light, fluorescent, stage lighting, rope lighting, and a disco ball. A working sound board, music, and up-to-date stereo system. We utilize different media options as well.

A few buildings away is our main office, where rehearsals may sometimes be held. It has 3 spacious rehearsal rooms, each with a baby grand piano.

Performance for family and friends at the end of the camp.

We do not skip out on costumes! Every participant will be outfitted in a role and age appropriate costumes for the performance. The actors and actress will also interact with carefully designed and created props.

Students will be learning stage position, projection of their voice, blocking, how to interpret a script, read music, sing in a group, and dancing.

Since the plays we do are musicals, the actors and actresses will learn the basics of singing. It includes, reading music, matching pitch, group and possibly solo singing, tempo, and rhythms. Our choreographer will teach dance positions, dance moves, rhythm, counting, and tempo.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our arts camps will provide intense, focused training for campers of all ability levels in dance, drama, and both vocal and instrumental music. Our instructors are industry professionals and industry tradesmen, with real-world experience in their chosen fields.

All performing arts camps will conclude with a performance, highlighting new skills acquired during the two-week session.

An important part of the camp experience will be two field trips chosen specifically to enhance campers' knowledge in their chosen field of the performing arts.

Our activities camp will be a fun and relaxing day camp with plenty of opportunities for play. The program will include arts and crafts, singing, and outdoor activities. We will take several field trips during the two-week session, with an emphasis on swimming and water play.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial assistance is available to families who qualify. Applications can be obtained from the ICPA School office.

OTHER CAMP INFO: All camps will offer before and after care for campers. Early bird hours are 7am -8 am. Camp is in session from 8-5pm. Extended camp hours require pre-registration.

CAMP FACILITIES: YMCA Camping is at its best at Sequoia Lake. Established by 5 Valley YMCAs the property of Sequoia Lake is held in trust by the Sequoia Lake Conference of YMCAs to be operated exclusively by The YMCA. In 2010 YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake became its own branch of the Golden State YMCA Association to host all of the Associations camping programs managing all programming on Sequoia Lake. Villages Today YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake is home to 5 independent villages which house a wide variety of programs during the summer. Sequoia, Gaines, Redwood, Millwood and Tulequoia.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers will share cabins with friends and meet new cabinmates from other Ys providing an opportunity for your child to create new and lasting memories with campers from all over Southern California. YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake creates an environment that encourages heartfelt laughter, interactive learning and personal growth.
